Review #13: Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass

 Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass is one of the best games I’ve ever played. This isn’t even slightly an understatement, this game is about as close to flawless as I’ve seen in this medium. But I guess I should probably elaborate. This game follows Jimmy and his family as they attempt to defeat the Pulsating Mass, a large mass of… well, uh. Pulsating… stuff… You know what I’m trying to say. So basically, the plot is, go stop it. It gets more complex as it goes along and there’s a lot of interesting subtext, but for a lot of the game the story kinda takes a backseat, at least compared to other excruciatingly long RPGs. Oh yeah, this game is 40 hours. Nice. I’m not gonna discuss the plot further, as it’s really well done and I think you should just experience it yourself. The combat takes up a lot of the playtime, and unlike other games like OFF, Space Funeral, or Omori, the combat is actually good.
